India Registers Highest Single-Day Rise Of COVID-19 Cases In 6 Months

Guwahati: India recorded 5,335 brand-new COVID-19 cases in the past day, a notable increase, the Union health ministry said.

According to the ministry’s announcement on Thursday, it is the largest one-day increase in almost six months.

The number of COVID-19 cases in India has been on the rise recently, with daily infections varying from 2,994 on April 1 to 3,824 on April 2 to 3,641 on April 3 to 3038 on April 4 to 4,435 on April 5.

Currently, there are 25,587 current COVID cases, with a daily positivity rate of 3.32 percent.

The total number of recoveries stands at 4,41,82, 538 after 2,826 in the last 24 hours. According to the report, India’s recovery rate is presently 98.75 percent.

In India, 220.66 billion doses of the Covid vaccine have been given thus far, 1,993 of which were given in the previous day.

According to the ministry, the weekly positivity rate is presently 2.89 percent.

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said on Wednesday that attorneys are free to appear in court electronically rather than physically in light of the increase in cases.

“We saw newspaper reports on rising Covid cases. Lawyers can use hybrid mode. If you choose to appear online, we will hear you,” said the CJI.

The apex court returned to the physical hearing method of case adjudication after considering the low infection rate and the number of Covid cases in Delhi and across the nation in April of last year.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated earlier this week that there was no cause for concern because the Omicron sub-variant, which is presently spreading throughout the nation, has not increased hospitalisations.

However, he encouraged people to be watchful and take the appropriate action to stop the virus from spreading.
