Guwahati: The cases of crime and smuggling are increasing so much day-by-day, that they are causing problems in the minds of people everywhere.
Instead of patients, an ambulance was used in Lakhimpur district of Assam for transporting cannabis and alcohol illegally.
However, the ambulance along with cannabis and alcohol was seized by a few locals on Sunday morning.
The incident occurred near the entrance of Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH) where a private ambulance was seized.
The locals alleged that the ambulance was parked in the area which has created a nuisance for the loacls as few youths congregated inside and consumed alcohol.
Since the incident was first reported six months ago, no patients have been transported in or out of the vehicle.
The ambulance was finally seized by the locals and handed over to the police after several months.
Upon searching the vehicle, a few packets of cannabis and bottles of alcohol was recovered by the police.
One of the locals said, “We have seen this ambulance parked here for the last six months. Youths gathering here create nuisance under the influence of alcohol. Today we thought of taking some action and decided to take the matter to the police. The police informed us the ambulance doesn’t possess any valid documents.”
