Guwahati: Social media users criticised a video of the Dalai Lama kissing a minor boy and telling him to “suck his tongue.”
The undated viral video shows the spiritual leader bowing to the young person and kissing him on the lips.
He was heard asking the young boy, “Can you suck my tongue?” and then was seen sticking his tongue out.
The video clip was shared on Twitter by a user captioned with, “Pedo-Dalai Lama kissed an Indian boy at a Buddhist event and even tried to touch his tongue, the boy then resisted. What a disgusting scene. In the video published on the ‘official’ networks, the scene was obviously cut… as if by magic!”
The tweet received a significant response because it incited rage among online users.
However, the location and the date when the incident occurred are not known yet.
This is not the first time the Dalai Lama has dealt with a contentious scenario; in 2019, the spiritual leader sparked controversy with a statement he made about his successor.
The Dalai Lama said that if a woman were to succeed him, she needed to be “beautiful” in an interview with a British broadcaster. He then apologised after this statement sparked a huge uproar.
