Guwahati: An argument broke out at the Bilasipara Revenue Circle office in the Dhubri district of Assam after a Lat Mandal was beaten up by a group of individuals for allegedly engaging in corrupt activities.
Reports claim that a group of 6-7 persons attacked the Lat Mandal, named as Nazrul Islam of Lat No. 12, after they barged into the office and demanded clarity on a land-related issue.
While the attackers have claimed that the Islam was involved in corrupt practices, the latter said that it was a misunderstanding.
Lashing out at reporters, the Lat Mandal said, “You are welcome to go inside and check the legality of the documents. If I am in the wrong, action should be taken against me. Please refrain from writing false information against me on your news channels!
According to reports, minor injuries have been sustained by the Lat Mandal during the incident.
Meanwhile, local police arrived at the spot and were able to stabilise the situation.
According to police, four persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
