Pro-Khalistani Inmates in Assam Prison Meets SGPC Attorneys Delegation

Guwahati: A group of attorneys from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) met with Waris Punjab De members who are now being held at the Dibrugarh Central Prison in Dibrugarh of Assam.

The responsibility of providing them with legal help has been given to the lawyers’ panel, which includes SGPC member and advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, counsel Mandeep Singh Sidhu, and advocate Rohit Sharma.

According to reports, the committee’s attorneys visited the eight individuals who had been arrested during a Punjab Police crackdown on “Waris de Punjab” leader Amritpal Singh and his associates.

The eight individuals who have been detained under the NSA are being pursued by the SGPC.

Lawyer Sialka shared evidence from Assam and stated that eight juveniles in the Dibrugarh jail are in “charhdi kala” (high spirits).

According to SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, the cases of young people detained under the NSA at Dibrugarh are being pursued in accordance with the Jathedar of Akal Takht’s directive. He claimed that following a site visit, the legal specialists for SGPC had begun their job. He added that the legal team has developed a new line of action in light of their meetings with the detained youths and administrators of the Dibrugarh jail.

Notably, eight people, including Amritpal Singh’s bodyguard, are currently detained at the Dibrugarh Central Prison.

However, Papalpreet Singh Amritpal’s close aide was detained on Monday in Hoshiarpur of Punjab. Punjab’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Headquarters, Sukhchain Singh Gill stated that Papalpreet was detained in accordance with the National Security Act (NSA).

“Papalpreet Singh, the main associate of Amritpal Singh has been arrested by Amritsar Rural Police from the Kathu Nangal area. The arrest has been made under the National Security Act. Apart from this, he is also wanted in six cases,” Gill said.
