Miscreants in Assam hanged up posters of “Washing Powder Nirma” in front of Rajiv Bhawan prior to PM Modi’s visit

Guwahati: A poster depicting the iconic “Washing Powder Nirma” girl in a spin was put up on April 14 in the Rajiv Bhawan area of Guwahati in order to “welcome” Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be in the city on the day of the Rongali Bihu celebration.

The unfavourable welcome board had modified pictures of the Nirma girl with the faces of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members who had switched parties, including Himanta Biswa Sarma, Narayan Rane, Suvendu Adhikari, Sujana Chowdhary, and Eshwarappa.

According to reports, Dispur police arrived at the spot and were able to take down the poster that had been put up on GS Road of Guwahati.

It should be noted that the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana put up a similar billboard in Hyderabad to “welcome” Home Minister Amit Shah, who was in the city for the 54th CISF Raising Day parade.

The poster targeting the BJP in Hyderabad comes as BRS MLC and CM K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha is still being questioned in the Delhi liquor issue.
