Guwahati: Amidst the festivities of Rongali Bihu in the state, a gruesome murder was reported in the Maligaon area of Guwahati on Saturday night, April 15.
The horrific incident occurred at Maligaon stadium last night while the Bihu function was going on.
The deceased has been identified as Rohit Kumar Gami.
As per reports, A fight between a group of youths broke out at the stadium which apparently led to the death of the youth by being stabbed by another group.
According to reports, another youth was also wounded in the incident.
Police have detained one person in connection with the incident as numerous others are reportedly absconding.
While taking to the media, Rohit’s father explained that his son had gone to see Bihu and that the next morning, it had been learned that he had been allegedly stabbed with a knife.
“We came to the GMCH and found that he had died at the hospital,” said the father.
Meanwhile, the victim’s cousin stated that they had come from Bihar to earn.
However, they further added that the body should be allowed to be taken to Bihar.
