Manipur: Another BJP MLA tenders resignation from CM N Biren Singh’s led govt
Guwahati: MLA P Brojen Singh resigned as the chairman of the Manipur Development Society on April 20, dealing yet another blow to the BJP in Manipur.
In his resignation letter, Brojen, an elected MLA from the Thoubal district’s Wangjing Tentha Assembly constituency, cited “personal grounds.”
“I tender my resignation from the post of chairman Manipur Development Society (MDS) Imphal due to some personal grounds”, mentioned Brojen in his resignation letter.
When Brojen announced his resignation, a few elected MLAs, mostly from the Kuki community, were already camped out in New Delhi, asking the Centre leadership to intervene because they were unhappy with the state leadership’s alleged lack of transparency and failure to keep their promises.
According to Thokchom Radheshyam, who recently quit his job as Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s advisor, Manipur has been run in a totalitarian manner, which has displeased many MPs. Either the chief minister or the state party leadership is what they want to change.
“If we want transparency, whatever we do, whatever we speak, what we think in our mind and soul should be same and action upon,” he wrote on social media platform.
Another BJP politician, Karam Shyam, who resigned from his position as Chairman of the Tourism Corporation on April 17, claimed in a social media post that the senior leadership of the state government does not treat its employees equally and that it is unacceptable for a leader to threaten its employees.
Shyam added that despite the chief minister’s earlier promise to create a historical place in his district, the proposal was later denied.
