Fire destroys property, cloth at shop in Assam

Guwahati: A massive fire destroyed one cloth shop in Dhubri district in Assam during the wee hours of Monday.

The fire broke out at around 1 am in Sonakhuli village of the district.

The cloth shop is owned by Ansar Ali.

Initial investigations indicate that the incident was probably caused by an electrical short circuit.

Upon receiving information, Halakura police rushed to the spot and informed the fire brigade.

The cops and local residents helped the fire fighters in the operation.

Within a few hours, the fire was brought under control but not before it had severely damaged the fabric store and everything inside of it.

The shop’s owner, Ansar Ali, voiced his shock and dismay at the tragedy and mentioned how much work and money he had put into the business.

There was no casualty reported in the fire but property and cloth worth over Rs 3-4 lakh was gutted.
