Guwahati: A cattle smuggler in Nagaon district of Assam on Wednesday was arrested while attempting to bribe a police official.
According to reports, the smuggler allegedly attempted to pay off a Crime Branch officer in exchange for the release of a truck that had been impounded due to its involvement in cattle smuggling.
However, unfazed by greed, the honest policeman arrested him and took him into custody so he could be questioned.
The arrested cattle smuggler has been identified as Gulzar Hussain, is a resident of Kawaimari village in the district.
Currently, he is being kept at Samuguri police station.
A case has been registered against him under relevant sections, police said.
