Gauhati HC Orders Assam police to submit case diary on complaint against IYC Prez Srinivas BV

Guwahati: The Indian Youth Congress president Srinivas BV was the subject of a complaint and the Gauhati High Court has ordered the Assam police to provide the case diary by May 2.

Furthermore, Srinivas filed a petition with HS asking for the case against him that had been brought by Angkita Dutta, the former president of the Assam Congress Youth.

While addressing a media outlet Adv general Debajit Lon Saikia who is representing on the behalf of the state said, “They (Srinivas BV) filed a plea for quashing of the FIR, however, the court has further fixed the matter on May 2 for further consideration of their prayer for the stay.”

Lon Saikia added that the police had been instructed by the Gauhati High Court to provide the case diary on the complaint made against IYC President Srinivas BV.

Angkita Dutta, the expelled leader of the Assam Congress Youth filed a complaint and Srinivas BV appealed to the Gauhati High Court to reject it on April 25.

This comes after the Guwahati Police Department and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) both summoned the national youth leader of the Congress party in response to a complaint of alleged harassment submitted by Angkita Dutta.

A notice was sent to Srinivas by Guwahati Police summoning him to appear on May 2 to address the harassment case brought by former Assam Pradesh Youth Congress leader Angkita Dutta at the police headquarters prior to the May 10 Karnataka Assembly Election.

Moitrayee Deka, assistant deputy commissioner of police (East Guwahati) on April 23 sent the Youth Congress national president a notice instructing him to abstain from further violations and not tamper with the case’s evidence.

Furthermore, he was instructed not to make any promises, threats, or inducements to anyone who was aware of the specifics of the case in the notice.

The notification stated that he was needed to appear in court under the court’s constant observation at all times, participate in the case’s investigation and coordination of the examination, be honest when disclosing the true circumstances, and submit all necessary major reports.
