Doctors Are Stunned By A Baby Boy Born With Two Active Penises

Guwahati: Medical professionals were astounded when a baby boy was born with two penises. It now looks that the child may be using both organs in what is known as a rare illness called Diphallia.

One in six million neonates worldwide are born with the rare condition diphallia.

The newborn had two “normal-shaped” genitalia, one of which was 1 cm larger than the other. The other phallus was 2.5 centimetres long, whereas the first one was 1.5 cm long. The youngster could urinate from both penises because he had a single bladder connected to two urethras.

He lacked an anus, so doctors performed surgery to make an opening using a colonoscopy so he could pass stool.

The infant boy was receiving care at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences’ Children’s Hospital.

According to reports, the baby was brought right away to the hospital’s emergency room. He was under surveillance for two days following the procedure. A follow-up appointment was scheduled after his discharge.

Due to the condition’s rarity, the case was published in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports with a warning that there was an increased risk of mortality.

“The higher complexity and mortality associated with diphallia is because of the accompanying anomalies of the urogenital and gastrointestinal system,” it read.
It should be noted that only 100 instances of diphallia have been documented in the medical literature, with the first occurrence being in 1609.
