Cattle smugglers unable to Escape Assam police, despite using trucks & luxury cars
Guwahati: In yet another major crackdown, as many as four cattle heads were rescued by Kohora Police on Sunday.
Kohora Police during naka checking intercepted a luxury car in Kaziranga.
Upon checking, the cattle heads were found to be sedated and stuffed inside the car.
The car was intercepted when it was heading towards Kaziranga.
The accused driver was given the go-ahead to halt the car by police patrolling unit, but in an effort to avoid capture, he drove the car towards the direction of Kaziranga.
The police crew managed to stop the car after chasing it down National Highway 37 for a few minutes, but the driver escaped.
In another incident, a truck carrying animals that had been smuggled in was also discovered during a police operation on Sunday night in the Jakhalabandha locality of the Nagaon district.
As many as 19 cattle heads were rescued from the truck.
Out of 19 cattle heads, two of were found dead.
Moreover, the driver of the truck has been arrested by the officials.
The driver has been identified as Irshad Khan.
An action has been taken against the accused driver.
