Wild elephants in Assam wreak havoc in separate incidents; 1 killed

Guwahati: The man-animal conflict in Assam is still ongoing as wild elephants have wreaked havoc in several events across the state, claiming one life in the process, reports emerged on Monday.

In the first instance, a man was killed after being mauled by a wild elephant in Guabari area of Tamulpur.

The deceased has been identified as Rajen Pradhan.

Rajen Pradhan, who was found by villagers in severe condition and taken to the hospital for immediate treatment.

The doctors declared him bought dead at the hospital.

In another incident, two wild elephants entered a residential area in Lanka while looking for food, causing mayhem in the area.

Residential buildings were demolished by wild elephants. Furthermore, after they destroyed the barns, they also consumed rice.

Meanwhile, a herd of elephants caused havoc in the Chirang district, destroying six homes and one commercial building.

The wild elephants came out from Manas National Park in search of food and entered a residential area in Bijni where they completely destroyed six houses and one business establishment of one person.
