India sees a decline in daily Covid-19 cases

Guwahati: India on Tuesday recorded as many as 3,325 new cases of Covid-19 in the previous 24 hours, which is 957 instances fewer than were reported the day before, according to information from the ministry of health and family welfare.

The number of positive cases has steadily decreased over the past several days after a rapid increase in Covid-19 cases across the nation, the ministry reported on Tuesday. According to government statistics, India has 44,175 current Covid-19 cases overall. 4,282 instances were reported overall in India on Monday while 5,874 cases were reported on Sunday.

6,379 patients were able to recover from the Covid-19 virus during the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries increased to 4,43,77,257 as a result. The recovery percentage was 98.72%.

Furthermore, the weekly positivity rate is now 3.87 percent, and the daily positivity rate is now 2.29 percent. The health ministry reports that the total number of Covid-19 tests performed in India over the past 24 hours was 1,45,309, for a total of 92.69 crore tests.

Furthermore, according to the ministry, 2,180 doses of vaccines were given in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses given across India to 220.66 crores, including 95.21 crore second doses and 22.87 crore precautionary doses given under the National Vaccination Drive.

Prior to this, Dr. P. K. Mishra, the Prime Minister’s principal secretary, had presided over a high-level meeting on April 20 to assess the situation in light of a sudden increase in Covid-19 cases across the country.

The secretary of health and family welfare Rajesh Bhushan provided an overview of the global situation of the Covid-19 virus through a comprehensive presentation during the meeting.

Moreover, it provided information about the genome sequencing of various variants starting in January 2023 and observed the percentage of circulating variants in India. The availability of medications and the readiness of the nation’s infrastructure were discussed after a debate on the status of vaccination, according to the Prime Minister’s Office. Additionally, Rajesh Bhushan advised the officials to keep a close eye on the Covid-19 virus situation and take all necessary steps to stop its spread.
