Guwahati: Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, one drug peddler has been arrested by the Mizoram Police Special Branch (CID SB).
The drug peddler has been identified as Abdul Mazid Laskar, a resident of Cachar district in Assam.
Based on a tip off, a special team of Mizoram Police carried out a raid.
During the operation, a truck was intercepted by the police officials after which they arrested the drug peddler with heroin.
During search, 2.553kg of heroin in 200 soap cases was found from his possession.
The estimated market value of the seized heroin is suspected to be more than Rs. 12.5 crore.
