Guwahati: The primary suspect Dr. Sangeeta Datta in the terrible Guwahati child abuse case, underwent more questioning on Monday.
Initial reports states that Guwahati Commissioner of Police (CP) Diganta Barah personally oversaw the interrogation. According to reports, Sangeeta Datta was questioned until midnight.
Police are reviewing the CCTV footage from the accused doctor’s house. The authorities are carefully reviewing every single one of the 32 CCTV footage that are collected as they continue their investigation into the horrible conduct.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier directed Assam Police to conduct a comprehensive probe into the alleged child abuse case in Guwahati and wrap it up within the next six months. A charge sheet must be submitted by the Assam police within the next 45 days, the chief minister further said.
He pledged to ask the Gauhati High Court chief judge for a special court to hear the alleged child abuse case.
“I am personally monitoring this child abuse case, and I believe the investigation will be completed within the next six months. The couple has been slapped with various sections including sections under the POCSO act. I will personally write to the chief justice of Gauhati High Court seeking a special court for the trial of this case. I have directed the Assam police to file the charge sheet within a month or the next 45 days,” said the chief minister.
The medical findings of the victim girl are exceedingly concerning, according to Guwahati Commissioner of Police Diganta Barah, who said this during a news conference on Sunday. As a result, the police would ask for the appointment of a Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) to establish the case in court.
Following the filing of the charge sheet, the police official stated that they would also make a plea before the Gauhati High Court through the state of Assam in order to guarantee a prompt trial in the alleged child abuse case.
