Assam DGP Holds Security Review Meeting Following CM Security Breach

Guwahati: DGP G P Singh called an urgent meeting of top police officers following reports that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s security was recently violated during an event in Guwahati.

Reports claim that the chief minister and state minister Ashok Singhal were dissatisfied with the level of security provided since certain individuals were able to approach the chief minister, raising concerns about security.

The DGP called a meeting on Wednesday night to discuss the issue after calling the top police officers to his office.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) issued an urgent appearance order for all of his Officers-in-Charge (OC) to report to the DGP office at 9 PM on Wednesday.

According to reports, the meeting was held to ensure that the security system is evaluated and updated to stop such occurrences from happening again.

Moreover, three Assam Police Superintendents of Police (SP), who were in charge of the chief minister’s security, were transferred as a result of the event’s security breach.

A high-level investigation into the incident has also been ordered by the government.

The three SPs are – Utpal Bhuyan, SP, (Security-I) Gunendra Deka, SP, (Security-II) and Suman Chakraborty, SP, (Security-III).
