Ex- PM Imran Khan Granted Two-Weeks Protective Bail
Guwahati: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was on Friday given a two-week protective bail in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
Imran Khan has received significant relief following the Supreme Court’s declaration that his arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case was “invalid and unlawful.” The Islamabad High Court’s division bench awarded the former Pakistani prime minister bail.
According to the Islamabad High Court, the decision only applies within the city limits of Islamabad. Further, the court has mandated that Imran Khan cannot be detained until May 17.
The hearing on Friday was postponed for nearly two hours due to security concerns. The former cricketer-turned-politician returned to the Islamabad High Court in a security vehicle and entered the structure flanked by numerous police officers and paramilitaries.
In support of their leader, thousands of “peaceful Pakistanis” from all over the nation are expected to congregate in Islamabad, according to Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) party.
Imran Khan was taken into custody on Tuesday in connection with a corruption case on instructions from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He was forcibly taken into custody while on the grounds of the Islamabad High Court, when he was there for biometrics prior to a corruption case hearing. Following this, the nation was claimed to have experienced massive violent protests by the previous prime minister’s followers.
