Assam:16 Shops Gutted In Massive Fire In Silchar; Arson Suspected

Guwahati: A major fire that started in a market area in Sonai Tehsil in the Cachar district of Assam has destroyed at least 16 establishments.

The incident was reported from Swadhin Bazar on Monday morning.

According to reports, the unheard-of fire damaged goods worth millions of rupees, adding that the majority of the buildings were fruit and vegetable markets.

Reportedly, it is suspected that the massive fire was caused by an arson attack carried out by unidentified criminals.

Soon later, fire fighters arrived at the scene and quickly douse the fire, which had quickly spread to many nearby stores.

Later, local police reached the scene and initiated an investigation into the matter.
