Guwahati: Doctor Waliul Islam, one of the accused in the Guwahati child abuse case, will appear before the court as his police detention expires on Monday.
The court of the chief judicial magistrate on May 10 extended Waliul Islam’s police custody by an additional five days. Islam, the accused, was brought before the court by the city police following a five-day police detention.
Meanwhile, disturbing reports of child abuse in Guwahati have surfaced. According to reports, Sangeeta Dutta and Waliul Islam’s accused couple case involves the identities of two ASHA employees.
Utpala Bose, the primary suspect Sangeeta Datta’s personal assistant in the Guwahati child abuse case, was sentenced to five days in police custody on Saturday. According to reports, Utpala was arrested on Friday night. The doctor couple Sangeeta Datta and Waliul Islam’s children are thought to have been set up by her. According to reports, Utpala evaded capture for three days before turning herself in at the Panbazar Police Station.
Abhijit Bose, the journalist who was held by the police in connection with the case, is planning to pursue a defamation lawsuit against the police, adding even another twist to the story.
