Junmoni Rabha Accident: Family Members Call Death ‘Mysterious’ & Urge for Probe
Guwahati: Junmoni Rabha’s family has described her death as “mysterious” and demanded that a high-level investigation be conducted into the unfortunate sequence of events that took place on Monday night.
In the Nagaon district of Assam, in Kaliabor, a traffic accident claimed the life of Rabha, a Sub-Inspector (SI) with the Assam Police.
Her older brother Karuna Rabha claims that Junmoni went out with Aabha Rabha, another SI, on Monday night. Aabha responded that she did not travel with Junmoni to her destination when questioned afterwards.
Junmoni’s brother also revealed that Nagaon Superintendent of Police (SP) Leena Doley had called the now-deceased police officer on Monday night at around two in the morning and questioned the timing of the summons.
The accident happened on Monday night on National Highway 37 near Sarubhagia village when the vehicle in which Rabha was riding in collided with an approaching container truck with the registration number “UP 78UT 4518.”
According to reports, the accident’s massive force caused the car to be completely smashed. Local police arrived on the scene and hurried the SI to Kaliabor Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital for medical care, but upon arrival, the hospital’s staff pronounced her dead.
It is believed that at roughly two in the morning, Rabha was travelling in civil attire towards Upper Assam when the accident happened. According to sources, her body has now been sent to Nagaon for the post-mortem.
In the past year, Junmoni Rabha, a SI at the Morakolong police station in Nagaon, has made news for a number of problems, including corruption, criminal conspiracy, and cheating, for which she was also arrested. A session court later granted her bail.
