Assam CM: Tinsukia Medical College To Be Completed by March 2024
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday visited the Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital building site and announced that the college’s construction would be finished by March 2024.
There will be 388 beds at Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital along with 60 doctors and 150 nurses.
CM Sarma reviewed the status of the construction projects and instructed the relevant agencies to complete 80% of the work by September 10, 2023 in order to receive recognition from the National Medical Commission (NMC), reports said.
He stated that the medical college’s construction is almost complete and that he hopes it will be completed by March 2024.
It should be noted that the Assam Government granted funding totaling Rs. 624.93 crores for the medical college in April to speed up the construction process.
Meanwhile, CM Sarma tweeted that the state government has significantly increased health infrastructure over the past two years.
He wrote, “Rs 5 lakh insurance coverage for 56 lakh families, 7 cancer hospitals & available MBBS seats increased by 60% to 1,500 as 12 out of 24 planned medical colleges become functional.”
