Assam Govt decides to handover SI Junmoni Rabha’s death case to CBI

Guwahati: The Assam government decided to transfer the accident case to CBI as the most recent step in the death case of SI Junmoni Rabha.

It should be noted that the deceased Sub Inspector (SI) Junmoni Rabha’s family has been pleading with the state government to order a CBI investigation into the alleged murder of the police officer.

Speaking to the media, DGP Assam explained that there were two reasons why the matter had been given to the CBI. On the basis of public sentiments first, then also on the basis of neutrality.

Prior to now, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave his opinion on the pending inquiry regarding Junmoni Rabha’s passing. The Chief Minister addressed the issues raised by the case and gave the assurance that an exhaustive inquiry is ongoing.

The incident that led to Junmoni Rabha’s death has generated a lot of conversation and raised a lot of issues. The investigation has been taken up by the CID (Criminal Investigation Department), which is working to clarify the incident’s circumstances.

Chief Minister Sarma conveyed his condolences and acknowledged the seriousness of the situation while highlighting the value of openness during the probe. He stated, “If anyone is found to be involved in the death of Jonmoni Rabha, they must face appropriate punishment.”

The Chief Minister also gave the Junmoni Rabha family members his word that the CID is zealously undertaking its inquiry. However, he did make the promise to launch a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) investigation if the family wasn’t happy with the CID’s conclusions.
