Assam Police summoned Lakhimpur ASP Runa Neog amid ongoing probe into SI Junmoni Rabha’s death
Guwahati: Every day that goes by, fresh information about Assam police officer Junmoni Rabha’s death emerges, adding to the mystery surrounding it. In the most recent development, Assam Police has summoned Lakhimpur Additional Superintendent of Police Runa Neog and directed her to appear before the investigative team at the police headquarters.
According to reports, an alleged informant of the dead SI Junmoni Rabha said that SP Runa Neog had threatened Hasina Begum over the phone for her participation in exposing the fake gold traders of Bangalmora.
Hasina Begum even claimed in front of the media that Junmoni Rabha had begged her to travel to Nagaon for safety after alerting her to a threat to her life.
She further claimed that police personnel from Nowboicha, Bangalmora outposts and Narayanpur police station in Assam were collaborating with the traffickers of fake gold.
It is noteworthy that ASP Runa Neog was appointed as Deputy SP in 2015, under the leadership of previous APSC Chairman Rakesh Paul.
ASP Runa Neog was initially posted as Deputy SP, CDO in Mandakata, North Guwahati in the year 2015. APSC scam mastermind Rakesh Paul was serving as the chairman of the Commission from the year 2013 to 2019.
Leena Doley and Bedanta Madhab Rajkhowa, the SPs for Nagaon and Lakhimpur, have been transferred in the midst of the continuing investigation into the death of Junmoni Rabha.
Assam Director General of Police GP Singh on May 20 said at a press conference that the Central Bureau of Investigation had been assigned to investigate the death of Junmoni Rabha.
