Mexico: 10 Shot Dead, 9 Injured In Shootout At Car Racing Show
Guwahati: An explosion at a car show in Baja California of northern Mexico on Saturday resulted in at least 10 road racers dying and nine others suffering injuries, the municipal government reported.
According to the Baja California State Attorney General’s Office, the attack took place during an event featuring all-terrain vehicles in Ensenada’s San Vicente area.
911 calls stated that about 2:18 pm (2118 GMT), individuals armed with long weapons exited a grey van and started firing at participants at a petrol station.
Along with other organisations, local and state law enforcement, the Marines, the fire department, and the Mexican Red Cross arrived at the scene.
Ricardo Ivan Carpio Sanchez, the state attorney general, reportedly ordered a special team to look into the shooting, according to mayor Armando Ayala Robles.
Reports claim that the victims’ names or nationalities have not yet been made public. The injured were taken by the Red Cross of Mexico to medical facilities in Northern Baja California.
