Guwahati: The total pass percentage in Assam was 72.69 percent as of the release of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) results, with Chirang district having the highest pass rate in the state on Monday.
In all, 4,15,324 candidates took the board exam. From the total, 94,913 students received first place, 1,48,573 students received second place, and 58,394 students received third place.
While 8,517 students achieved distinction marks in the exams, 18,653 students received stars.
The HSLC exams this year were held amid a number of difficulties after reports of paper leak occurrences in numerous exam centres around the state were made, however the pass rate topped the mark from the previous year as the percentage achieved in 2022 was 56.49 percent.
Chirang had the lowest pass rate of all the districts of Assam in 2022 (34.27%); however, this year, the district outperformed them all with an 88.68 percent score.
Sivasagar and Dima Hasao districts, on the other hand, have maintained their positions in the top three positions in terms of pass percentages, registering 88.40 percent and 88.12 percent, respectively, compared to 81.17 percent and 81.31 percent in 2022 for Sivasagar and Dima Hasao, respectively.
On the other side, Kamrup (Metropolitan) district, which had a pass percentage of 77.18 percent, was positioned in 12th place.
Focusing on the district with the worst results, Goalpara has the lowest pass percentage with 59.80 percent, which is marginally higher than the 41.20 percent mark from the previous year. This, however, has little bearing because the district has consistently had the lowest performance for the past two years, placing it first from the bottom.
