Guwahati: Bollywood actor Salman Khan is one of the top 10 people that incarcerated mobster Lawrence Bishnoi intended to kill, according to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Salman Khan hunted a black deer in 1998, which the Bishnoi community regards as sacred, and Bishnoi claimed that the gangster planned to assassinate the star to exact retribution for hurting their feelings.
The notorious criminal admitted to the NIA that he had ordered Sampat Nehra, one of his assistants, to perform a reconnaissance of Salman Khan’s Mumbai apartment. But the Haryana Police’s Special Task Force managed to capture Nehra.
Only a few weeks after a man was arrested for sending the “Dabangg” actor a threat email, Salman received another death threat call in April of this year.
Soon after, the Mumbai Police gave Khan Y+ category protection because they believed the actor was in danger.
In his confession, Bishnoi claimed that in addition to Salman Khan, he had also set his sights on Shagunpreet, the manager of the late Punjabi musician Sidhu MooseWala.
Shagunpreet managed the late singer’s accounts, and he also provided sanctuary to Vicky Middukhera, a student leader in Punjab politics who backed Lawrence Bishnoi and was later assassinated. Bishnoi claimed that these actions put Shagunpreet on his murder list.
Bishnoi, who is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail, also acknowledged getting two ‘zigana’ semi-automatic handguns from America via Goldie Brar in 2021 for the notorious Gogi gang.
In April of this year, Tillu Tajpuriya was allegedly attacked by members of the gang and slain inside his cell in Tihar. The same Canadian-based Brar who had previously admitted to killing Punjabi musician Sidhu Moosewala in the Mansa district of Punjab last year also claimed responsibility for Tajpuriya’s murder.
The NIA had suspicions following Bishoni’s confession that the pistols he had delivered to the Gogi Gang may have been used in the gruesome murders of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf.
Goldy Brar, who resides in Canada, is said to have previously asserted that the murder of Sidhu Moosewala was committed as retaliation for the death of Vikramjit Singh.
Bishnoi further admitted to the NIA that one Vikas Singh, a powerful man from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, had given his gang’s agents and goons sanctuary at the latter’s hideout.
The Punjab police arrested Lawrence Bishnoi, who is charged in the murder of Siddhu Moosewala, last year.
