Guwahati: Three criminals were taken into custody on Tuesday in connection with the smuggling of fake gold just hours after North Lakhimpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Anand Mishra assumed command. Mishra conducted his first operation in the Assam district to combat the threat of fake gold and currency notes.
The three smugglers were apprehended by a police operation at Balikata and Haripur under the direction of SP Anand Mishra. According to reports, the defendants have been identified as Gulzar Hussain, Sariful Islam, and Saddam Hussain.
The accused engaged in the state’s illicit trade of smuggling fake gold for a number of days.
Anand Mishra unveiled a special helpline number on Monday, 6000815799, with the goal of enabling people to report instances of fraudulent activity and identify those responsible.
Mishra pledged to fight any anti-social and illegal activity tenaciously, focusing especially on the use of fake money and gold.
