Mortal Remains Of Faizan Ahmed Taken to Kolkata for 2nd Autopsy

Guwahati: A second post-mortem examination will be conducted on the body of Faizan Ahmed, a 23-year-old IIT-Kharagpur student, in Kolkata. The body was exhumed by forensic specialists in Dibrugarh on Tuesday in accordance with the Calcutta High Court’s directive and flown from Dibrugarh to Kolkata on an Indigo flight.

The college administration initially classified Faizan Ahmed’s death as a suicide after it was found in his hostel room on October 14, 2022. His family petitioned the Calcutta High Court on November 1, 2022 with suspicions of foul play and a request for a more thorough inquiry into his death by a Special inquiry Team (SIT), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), or Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The body of Faizan was taken to Kolkata and carried to the Kolkata Medical College for the second post-mortem examination while being accompanied by his grieving parents. The family’s discontent with how the continuing investigation is progressing is reflected in the High Court’s order for the exhumation and additional scrutiny.

The body will be brought back to Dibrugarh after being examined in Kolkata for a post-mortem, where it would be cremated. The family intends to bury him in their hometown after the second set of exams provides further information about the circumstances surrounding Faizan Ahmed’s premature death.

Questions about the circumstances surrounding Faizan Ahmed’s death continue to be raised, and the case has gained attention. The investigation has come under increased scrutiny due to the family’s desire of justice in an effort to learn the truth about this terrible incident at IIT Kharagpur.
