RPF Rescues 42 Persons, Apprehends 2 Human Traffickers

Guwahati: As many as 42 persons have been rescued during search operations carried out by the Northeast Frontier Railway’s Railway Protection Force (RPF) at various trains and stations.

The RPF also arrested two people during the operation on suspicion of being involved in human trafficking. From May 16 to May 22, search activities were carried out at a number of locations, including the railway stations at Katihar, Purnea, Barsoi, Kumedpur, New Bongaigaon, Rangiya, Kamakhya, Guwahati, Mariani, Tinsukia, New Jalpaiguri, New Tinsukia, and Dimapur.

The 42 people who have been rescued include two mentally challenged men, two women, and two girls, according to official authorities. According to NF Railway CPRO Sabyasachi De, all people who were saved were afterwards turned over to the appropriate children lines for safe care and family members following thorough verification.

RPF continuously takes preventive actions to secure and protect rail customers, passenger areas, and rail equipment. The duty of ensuring the safety of railway personnel, passengers, and property falls to RPF. The force has been working around the clock to give travellers a safe, secure, and pleasant travel experience. It enables Indian Railways to offer its customers a safe goods transit service. During the fiscal year 2022-2023, Team RPF discovered 108 cases, and 68 suspects were arrested as part of Operation WILEP.
