Guwahati: Man’s Body Recovered Drowned In Pond Near ASTU

Guwahtati: A man’s body was recovered on Monday close to the Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) where he allegedly drowned in a pond.

According to early reports, the body was retrieved from the pond during a recovery operation by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

The person drowned in the pond on Sunday after going there to take a bath, according to the information we obtained. Samar Deka was named as the individual.

His things, which included a phone, shoes, and clothing, were discovered next to the pond after he failed to return. Later, SDRF was contacted, and they were successful in retrieving the body today.
In another incident, a kid, assumed to be between the ages of 15 and 16, died after a trip to Guwahati’s Sukreswar Ghat. He is believed to have drowned in the Brahmaputra River on Saturday night.

According to the initial accounts, the young man and his five pals went to the ghat to have a bath in the sweltering heat of the city. They all dove deeply while taking a bath in the river, but one of them never emerged, and it was assumed that he had drowned.

The missing child has been identified as Zahid Ahmed, a student in the 10th grade from the Birubari neighbourhood of Guwahati. Following the event, a group of river police officers and SDRF personnel started looking for the youngster early on Sunday.
Speaking to the media, one of the SDRF personnel said, “We got information that yesterday evening, a youth got drowned in the Brahmaputra River while bathing, however, due to darkness, our team couldn’t launch the search operation. Today morning, we resumed the search operation from 6 am onwards.”
It should be mentioned that the SDRF staff also indicated that a second drowning event had been reported the day prior in Guwahati close to Kasomari Ghat.
