The body of a man was reportedly found floating on Tuesday night on the North Guwahati side of the bridge being built by SP Singla Constructions Private Limited over the Brahmaputra River.
The body’s identity has not yet been determined.
In the meantime, even after being stopped by the villagers, a man with the last name Mazumdar misbehaved with two reporters who went to the scene to cover the news. It is unknown why he misbehaved with the reporters at this time.
The North Guwahati Police allegedly arrived on the spot later but adopted a lenient approach towards the man.
The police are currently looking into the situation and making an effort to identify the dead.
In the Baksa district of Assam, a 9-year-old boy’s body was discovered floating on the Beki river last month. The deceased little kid, Taharul Sheikh, was from Safakamar village, which is part of the Barnagar subdivision. Before his body was discovered as he was going for a river bath, he had been missing for six days.
According to sources, when villagers noticed his body floating in the river, they quickly called the authorities.
Local police soon came on the scene and removed the body for an autopsy.
