The previous several days have seen a lot of rain fall in Sikkim, a state in the Himalayas. As a result, landslides have taken place in the state, washing away a number of crucial highways.
The road connecting Singtam – Dikchu – Rangran – Mangan – Chungthang was washed away after heavy downpour on Thursday.
Landslides on both sides of Rangarang halted traffic at around 6:15 o’clock. After that, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Project Swastik dispatched its gallant Karamyogis and heavy earthmoving machinery to the scene right away to clear the obstructed route. Around 10 pm in the evening, the road was cleaned and made traffic-ready thanks to the tireless efforts of these Karamyogis.
