Guwahati: The situation of flooding in Kampur of Assam remains perilous on Sunday with the Kopili River flowing above the danger level.
According to reports, the Kopili River is flowing above its danger limits due to the unfavourable weather and heavy rains.
Kampur has been flooded as a result of the Khandong dam’s dam gates opening in Dima Hasao’s Umrangso.
Moreover, it has come to light that a number of villages have been inundated as a result of the Kopili River’s rising water levels.
Furthermore, flooding has significantly harmed transportation because it has cut off communication to these settlements. As a result, the residents are having problems.
It should be mentioned that the Khandong Dam at Umrangso in Dima Hasao of Assam had as many as six gates opened on Friday by the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO).
According to reports, the decision to release the dam gates was made after the Khargol and Kopili Rivers’ water levels exceeded their safe thresholds due to the persistent rains in Assam and the Northeast.
