Former minister Chandan Brahma has postponed his official declaration of joining the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL).
Initially slated for April 8th in Kajalgaon, Chirang, Brahma will now make the transition on April 12th, as confirmed by the BPF leader himself at Chapaguri in Chirang.
Brahma’s decision to switch to UPPL, despite his significant following of 4 to 5 thousand supporters, signals a noteworthy shift in the region’s political landscape. His departure from the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) underscores enduring tensions within the party, exacerbated by internal criticisms regarding his perceived lack of recognition.
This development emerges amid a lull in BPF activities following their defeat in the previous assembly elections.
Notably, several leaders from various party factions are poised to follow Brahma’s lead in aligning with UPPL, hinting at potential changes in regional political alliances.
