Assam: SIT Summons 30 Examination Inspectors in APSC Recruitment Scam Probe
In a significant development, the special investigation team (SIT) tasked with unraveling the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) recruitment scam has summoned 30 examination inspectors to provide statements regarding the case.
The scam, pertaining to the CCE 2013 exams, has been under scrutiny following the emergence of substantial irregularities.
The SIT’s formation follows the submission of the retired Justice BK Sarma commission report, which shed light on the intricacies of the scandal.
As per the latest update, five out of the 30 summoned inspectors have presented themselves at the office of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) to cooperate with the ongoing inquiry.
The officials who appeared before the SIT today include Bipul Gogoi, Abhijit Bora, Bhupendra Talukdar, Anjan Sharma, and Jyotiraj Pathak.
Their participation is crucial as they will be tasked with examining disputed answer sheets as part of the investigation process.
Earlier this year, the Government of Assam submitted an affidavit to the Gauhati High Court outlining the magnitude of the APSC scam. The affidavit disclosed that five officials implicated in the scandal have already been arrested, while 25 others have faced suspension pending further inquiry.
An additional 42 officials are slated to undergo departmental investigations based on the recommendations of the Justice (retd) Biplab Kumar Sarma commission report.
The scrutiny intensifies as officials from the CCE 2013-14 batch come under the investigative spotlight, amid revelations of widespread irregularities and unfair recruitment practices.
