In phase 2 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, a total of 1206 candidates from 12 States/UTs, along with 4 candidates from the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, are set to compete.
Across the 12 States/UTs participating in phase 2, a total of 2633 nominations were filed for 88 Parliamentary Constituencies.
Following scrutiny, 1428 nominations were deemed valid, after the last date for withdrawal of candidature on April 8, 2024.
Kerala leads with the maximum number of nominations, with 500 candidates contesting from 20 Parliamentary Constituencies, followed closely by Karnataka with 491 nominations from 14 PCs.
Conversely, Tripura records the lowest nominations, with only 14 candidates vying for one PC.
In Maharashtra, the Nanded Parliamentary Constituency received the highest number of nominations at 92.
Notably, the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency will see elections split between phases 1 and 2, with 15 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) voting on April 19, 2024, and 13 ACs on April 26, 2024.
For phase 1, a total of 1625 candidates are contesting across 21 States/UTs, comprising 1491 male candidates and 134 female candidates, as per the Gazette notification issued on April 5, 2024.
