Tripura Electoral Office Suspends Government Officials for Model Code of Conduct Violations

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Tripura has taken swift action against Model Code of Conduct violations, suspending five government officials since the MCC was enforced in the state from March 16. Chief Electoral Officer Puneet Agarwal, alongside West Parliamentary Returning Officer Vishal Kumar, inaugurated an Alpana Anushthan as part of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation.

Agarwal addressed reporters, stating that complaints against officials are thoroughly investigated, and action is taken promptly upon confirmation of guilt. He highlighted the various channels available for filing complaints, including C-vigil, the National Grievance Service Portal, and physical submissions. So far, 15 complaints of MCC violations have been received, prompting immediate inquiry and action.

Agarwal emphasized proactive measures, mentioning that 84 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed since April 1st to ensure security through activities like flag marches, area dominations, and mobile patrolling.
