In the first phase, voters from 21 states and Union Territories will cast their ballots, including constituencies from the Northeast region. Key constituencies such as Dibrugarh, Sonitpur, and Jorhat in Assam, along with Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur in Manipur, are among the focal points of this phase.

Prominent candidates contesting in the first phase include Gaurav Gogoi for the Jorhat LS seat and Sarbananda Sonowal for the Dibrugarh LS seat. Additionally, Delhi’s JNU Professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and BJP’s Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh are contenders for the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha Constituency.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress have unveiled their election manifestos, outlining their respective visions for the country’s development. BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ emphasizes initiatives such as ‘One Nation, One Election,’ Uniform Civil Code implementation, and continued operation of the free ration scheme. On the other hand, Congress’ ‘Nyay Patra’ promises an unconditional cash transfer of Rs 1,00,000 annually to India’s poorest families and pledges to amend election laws for enhanced transparency.

As the electoral process unfolds, citizens across India eagerly participate in shaping the nation’s future through their votes, setting the stage for a dynamic and vibrant democracy.
