In response to the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, Air India announced on Friday the suspension of all flights to and from Tel Aviv until April 30, 2024. The decision, aimed at prioritizing passenger safety amidst the evolving situation in the Middle East, underscores the airline’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of its passengers.
The temporary halt of flights to Tel Aviv was confirmed by Air India in a statement, which also assured passengers with confirmed bookings during this period that they would receive a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges. Emphasizing their dedication to customer safety, the airline stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to assess developments as they unfold.
This suspension follows a prior announcement made last Sunday, when Air India disclosed the temporary suspension of direct flights between Delhi and Tel Aviv. The Tata group-owned carrier had recently resumed services to the Israeli capital on March 3, after a hiatus of nearly five months.
The initial suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv commenced on October 7, 2023, in the aftermath of a Hamas attack on the Israeli city. Despite operating four weekly flights between New Delhi and Tel Aviv, Air India has opted to exercise caution amidst the current geopolitical tensions, suspending operations until the end of April.
