The eagerly awaited results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination, conducted from February 16th to March 4th, 2024, were officially announced on April 20th, 2024. The timely declaration came within 45 days of the completion of the examination, bringing relief and anticipation to the candidates and their families.
Out of the 4,25,966 candidates who applied for the exam, 6,888 were absent, while 361 results were withheld, and 61 candidates were expelled, leaving a total of 4,19,078 candidates who appeared for the examination. Among them, 1,87,904 were male, 2,31,164 were female, and 10 were transgender candidates.
The overall pass percentage stood at 75.7%, showcasing the hard work and dedication of the students. Male candidates achieved a pass percentage of 77.3%, while female candidates recorded a pass percentage of 74.4%. Notably, transgender candidates led with an impressive pass percentage of 80%.
A total of 6,392 candidates secured distinction marks, scoring 85% and above, while 20,552 candidates were recognized as STAR mark holders, scoring between 75% to 84.99%. Additionally, 1,05,873 candidates achieved Division 1 status, which includes both distinction and STAR mark holders, followed by 1,50,764 Division 2 holders, and 60,680 Division 3 holders.
The results also highlighted the performance of candidates in specific subjects, with Social Science having the highest number of letter mark holders at 36,973.
Among the districts, Chirang emerged as the top performer with a remarkable pass percentage of 91.2%, followed by Nalbari at 88.1%, and Baksa at 86.9%. However, Udalguri district reported the lowest pass percentage at 60.9%, indicating areas for improvement in educational outcomes.
The Order of Merit featured the top five candidates, with Anurag Doloi from Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School, Jorhat, securing the first position with 593 marks.
Furthermore, the results were categorized based on different communities, with the highest pass percentage recorded among ST (H) candidates at 78.9%, followed closely by ST (P) candidates at 79.1%. However, the Tea Garden (TG) community reported the lowest pass percentage at 51.5%, highlighting the need for targeted support and interventions in these areas.
The announcement of the HSLC Examination results marks a significant milestone for the students and sets the stage for their future academic pursuits and endeavors.
