Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu commended the state for achieving remarkable voter turnout percentages of 77.70% in the Lok Sabha general elections and 82.95% in the Assembly polls. Despite challenges, including re-polling at eight stations across four assembly segments, voters demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm, reflecting a deep commitment to democratic values.
Taking to Twitter, CM Khandu expressed gratitude to the citizens for their spirited participation, emphasizing their exemplary commitment to the democratic ethos of the country. He also praised the dedication of polling personnel, including women, and security forces who braved adverse weather conditions and rugged terrains to ensure the smooth conduct of elections across the state, from snow-clad Himalayas to rainforest foothills.
Acknowledging the enormity of the task, involving approximately 50,000 officials managing 2,226 polling stations, Khandu highlighted their efforts in facilitating voting access for every electorate, regardless of location or logistical challenges. He also extended appreciation to the CEO, Arunachal Pradesh, for overseeing the logistics of the simultaneous elections in a transparent and impartial manner.
The Election Commission of India’s decision to order re-polling at select stations underscored its commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process in response to reports of violence and booth snatching during the initial polling on April 19. Through concerted efforts and collective resolve, Arunachal Pradesh demonstrated its unwavering dedication to democratic principles, ensuring that every voice was heard in the electoral process.
