COCOMI Calls Public Meeting to Address Manipur Crisis Amidst Rising Tensions

Amidst escalating tensions in Manipur, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), a prominent Meitei organization, has scheduled a public meeting on May 3, 2024, marking the one-year anniversary of the alleged narco-terrorist aggression in the state.

In a press conference today, COCOMI spokesman Khurajam Athouba Meitei expressed dissatisfaction with the Government of India’s handling of the Manipur crisis. Meitei highlighted the lack of visible relief or return to normalcy despite a year of conflict.

Meitei revealed that the organization plans to issue an ultimatum at the public meeting and present documents and data related to the narco-terrorist aggression. Key topics for discussion include the government’s crisis management, public understanding of the Suspension of Operation, illegal immigration, and poppy cultivation linked to the crisis.

In related news, a recent gunfight between two groups in Manipur resulted in the tragic death of a 33-year-old man. The incident occurred at Sinam Kom on the border of the Kangpkopi and Imphal East districts on April 26. The deceased, identified as Laishram Prem, was a ‘village volunteer’ who went missing following the gunfight and was found dead the next morning, according to police reports.
