Pro-Khalistani Leader Amritpal Singh Set to Contest Lok Sabha Polls as Independent Candidate

Pro-Khalistani separatist and Chief of ‘Waris Punjab De’, Amritpal Singh, is poised to enter the electoral arena as an Independent candidate in the Lok Sabha polls, announced his mother, Balwinder Kaur, on April 27. Singh’s candidacy is set for the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat.

Kaur revealed that Singh had faced pressure to contest the elections and will commence his political journey from Khadoor Sahib, leveraging his understanding of Punjab’s issues. Emphasizing that Singh’s candidacy would be independent of any party affiliation, Kaur highlighted his profound knowledge of Punjab’s challenges, indicating that his campaign would focus on addressing these concerns.

Amid speculation about Singh’s potential candidacy, his father, Tarsem Singh, addressed the matter on April 25, clarifying that no final decision had been reached. The family is reportedly deliberating their options, suggesting that Singh’s entry into the electoral fray is a significant development in Punjab’s political landscape.

Singh, currently incarcerated in Dibrugarh jail in Assam, is poised to embark on a political journey that could potentially reshape the dynamics of Punjab’s electoral arena, signaling a new chapter in the region’s socio-political narrative.
