A dumper truck accident in West Garo Hills on Sunday resulted in severe injuries to a motorcyclist’s leg near MBoSE at Upper Matchikolgre junction in Tura. The truck, bearing registration number ML 08K 0925, reportedly ran over the motorist and dragged the bike to Bokmagre.
The victim, identified as Rakseng M Sangma, aged 37 and hailing from Balachanda, Rajabala, was rushed to Tura Civil Hospital for medical treatment.
According to reports, the truck driver, identified as Kazimudin from Singimari, dragged the victim’s bike approximately 2 kilometers to Bokmagre before fleeing the scene, leaving the victim in a critical condition.
This incident comes on the heels of another tragic event where a 14-year-old girl lost half of her lower limb to a dumper truck in Ballonggre a week ago.
In response to these accidents, various groups from Garo Hills have urged the district administration to regulate heavy truck entry times and demanded coverage of medical expenses and compensation for the victims.
