As temperatures soar in West Garo Hills district, Meghalaya, proactive steps are taken to safeguard students’ health, with adjusted school timings aimed at avoiding peak heat exposure.
In response to the scorching weather, school hours now include a notable break from 11 AM to 3 PM, ensuring students are shielded from the sweltering midday sun.
Further measures are enforced by the Meghalaya government, directing schools to limit outdoor activities during peak hours, prioritizing student safety.
Director of School Education & Literacy, Swapnil Tembe, issues a comprehensive advisory emphasizing hydration and sun protection, urging schools to provide adequate facilities and encourage the use of caps and umbrellas.
The revised schedule sees upper primary, secondary, and higher secondary classes conducted between 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM, while nursery and lower primary classes conclude by 10:30 AM, demonstrating a proactive approach to student well-being amid challenging weather conditions.
