Massive Blaze Destroys 46 Thatch Houses on Assam-Nagaland Border

A devastating fire ravaged through Borlengri, Karbi Anglong, along the Assam-Nagaland border, leaving in its wake a trail of destruction as 46 thatch houses were consumed by the inferno on April 28.

The blaze, which erupted around 1 pm, quickly engulfed one house after another, spreading rapidly through the flimsy structures and leaving firefighters battling to contain the flames.

Responding swiftly to the emergency, the West fire station Dimapur and Central fire station dispatched two fire tenders each to the scene. Despite their valiant efforts, approximately 40 houses were devoured by the relentless fire before it could be brought under control by 3 pm.

While the cause of the fire remains unknown, suspicions have been raised regarding a potential short-circuit fuse, coinciding with a power cut in the area at the time of the incident.

Tragically, nothing could be salvaged from the engulfed homes, resulting in extensive property damage. However, amidst the devastation, a silver lining emerged as no casualties were reported, offering a glimmer of relief amid the aftermath of the catastrophic blaze.
