Today, Kajal Das, the president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in North Tripura district, has been granted bail after his arrest on April 29 in connection with an alleged assault on a presiding officer during the phase 2 polls for the Tripura East constituency.

The incident occurred on April 26 at a polling station in the Bagbasa assembly constituency and was captured in a widely circulated video on various social media platforms.

In the video, Das is seen purportedly striking the polling official amidst the presence of multiple unidentified individuals who were observed assaulting the officer at Polling Station Number 22.
