In a dedicated effort to bolster road safety and crack down on traffic violations, the Shillong Traffic Police conducted a rigorous week-long operation from April 22 to 28. The initiative resulted in a significant fine collection totaling Rs 6,78,000, announced East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Rituraj Ravi.
SP Rituraj Ravi highlighted the wide spectrum of violations uncovered during the crackdown, including instances of driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal modifications to vehicle exhaust pipes.
Throughout the enforcement period, a total of 684 violations were detected, underscoring the breadth of offenses identified by law enforcement. The substantial fine collection serves as a stern reminder of the consequences of flouting traffic laws in the region.
Emphasizing the imperative of responsible driving and strict adherence to traffic regulations, the Shillong Traffic Police urged citizens to exercise caution while on the roads. SP Rituraj Ravi reaffirmed the commitment to conducting such specialized operations regularly, supplementing routine checks to uphold road safety standards.
